Jane's Backyard Chickens: Chicken Coops
Chickens First Home
They were only three days old when I brought them home. I needed to find a place inside where they could be safe and warm. I also needed to start getting them used to the dogs and the dogs used to them.
We have two Dachshunds and they are, after all, Badger hunters. The chickens really didn't pay them any mind but the dogs thought we had brought them some fun new squeaky toys. I put their bed right next to the cage. This worked out great as the dogs now think they are just another funny looking weiner dog. I can let them out there with the chickens and they do not chase them at all.
